Segundo aniversario de ¡Y Qué Me Cuentas!

¡Hola a todos! Estamos celebrando el segundo aniversario de ¡Y qué me cuentas!. Con este motivo, Keatha y Helen me mandaron estos textos en los cuales podemos ver cómo ¡Y qué me cuentas! está siendo utilizado para la enseñanza y mejoramiento del español usando literatura hispana. Por mi parte, ya subí al blog un pequeño resumen de lo que ha sucedido con ¡Y qué me cuentas! durante este segundo año. 	Austin Public Library He disfrutado mucho y aprendido mucho del Y qué me cuentas blog.  A mí me gustan los ejercicios y las otras actividades.  Creo que el promedio de la asistencia al grupo es 6-7 personas.  Hay algunos en el grupo que hemos sido miembros por más de dos años.  Me gusta ver cómo funciona un grupo en que nos turnamos para leer, presentar ideas y escribir juntos.  La participación es lo que realmente nos saca adelante y nos ayuda a mejorar nuestro español.  Es divertido trabajar juntos y compartir ideas sobre algo que estamos leyendo o discutiendo.  Decimos que en nuestras reuniones todos somos maestros y todos somos estudiantes, porque siempre aprendemos el uno del otro.   También te agradecemos por la ayuda que nos das con los comentarios que haces sobre nuestro trabajo.  Esto nos ayuda a entender mejor el significado en contextos distintos de las palabras que desconocemos. Lo difícil es cuando hay una palabra o una frase que nadie en el grupo entiende.  Pero esto usualmente no nos impide a comprender el párrafo o la selección que estamos leyendo.  A veces es difícil encontrar selecciones que podamos terminar y discutir en una hora y media, pero también podemos leer sólo una parte, para dejar tiempo para los ejercicios.  Es interesante buscar entre una variedad de materiales para las reuniones.  Así estamos aprendiendo más sobre la literatura mientras mejoramos nuestro español. ¡Saludos! 	Ashville Spanish Club I recently moved from Austin, Texas to Asheville, North Carolina. During my time in Austin, I had the pleasure of attending Ramón’s weekly “¡Y Qué Me Cuentas!”class and using the accompanying blog. When I started going to Ramón’s class, I considered myself a beginning Spanish student. After a very short time in the class I rapidly developed into an intermediate Spanish student. Not long ago, I became the coordinator of the Asheville Spanish Club, a conversational Spanish group here in North Carolina. One of the participants suggested reading and discussing short stories. I immediately thought of “¡Y Qué Me Cuentas!”, and the Asheville Spanish Club has been reading the blog’s weekly stories ever since. It’s a wonderful activity for our group as it allows the conversation to flow. Frankly, without it, there might be some awkward silences. As an intermediate speaker, and also the group leader, it’s sometimes hard for me to think of topics to discuss and questions to ask in a timely manner. The stories keep the talk moving right along. On a more personal note, I very much enjoy the selection of short stories on “¡Y Qué Me Cuentas!”, they are challenging for me as a Spanish language student but also on a more intellectual level. I still find myself thinking about many of the stories I read on “¡Y Qué Me Cuentas!” in the past, and I’m sure I’ll be thinking of one of the latest additions, “Sólo vine a hablar por teléfono” by Gabriel García Marquéz, for a long time to come.
